Meshi Taka is a Chartered Civil Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) with over two decades of experience in technical delivery across the public and private water industry sectors, flood risk management, planning and development. Meshi is also public speaker and committed advocate for equity, diversity and inclusion and the promotion is STEM in our workplaces, schools and communities.
Meshi leads Project Groundwater Northumbria (PGN) on behalf of Gateshead Council. PGN is part the Flood and Coastal Resilience Innovation Programme (FCRIP), funded by DEFRA. At the forefront of PGN’s mission, is to revolutionize our understanding of and response to groundwater flood risk. PGN is developing new mapping, forecasting, warning, and data management systems. Additionally, PGN is raising community awareness on groundwater flood risk, particularly in former coalfield areas; and enhanced resilience against combined flood risks in a climate-changed environment.
Sustainability, knowledge sharing, learning, and community-centred resilience are central to PGN’s approach.
