Sheffield Sustainability Symposium

As Yorkshire Sustainability Festival (YSF) develops and grows, we are bringing together Sustainability Symposiums in 4 key locations across North, East, South and West Yorkshire.

YSF serves as a regional assembly where leaders from the public, private, and third sectors actively participate and attend our events. Our Sustainability Symposiums are designated platforms for crucial dialogues involving leaders from anchor institutions, corporations, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), startups, and youth representatives.

With our headline partners, Yorkshire & Humber Climate Commission, these roundtable discussions will dig into their topic-based insight papers and recently updated YHCC Climate Action Plan. This has been developed with over 1000 hours of expert input and more than 1200 engagements online to create a comprehensive plan for the Yorkshire and Humber to attain a just transition to net zero by 2038 and to be a well-adapted, climate-ready region that priorities nature’s recovery.

Each part of our region has different challenges and different solutions to the problems we face from climate change, and as such, we’ll discuss the frameworks needed in each region with leaders paving the way in that region.

At our Sheffield Sustainability Symposium, we will host a series of high level roundtable discussions with leaders from across anchor institutions, corporates, SMEs, start ups and young people. The topics we will dig into are:

  • Construction
  • Hydrogen Energy
  • Transport
  • Skills for the future
  • Citizen engagement
  • Building a circular economy
  • Manufacturing
  • Food

Our agenda will be as follows:

  • 2pm – Arrival
  • 2:30pm – All roundtable discussions begin
  • 4:30pm – Drinks Reception with an internationally renowned keynote speaker – watch this space for an announcement.
  • 6:30pm – Close

To be part of these discussions, you need to be a decision maker in your organisation. There will be representation from the public sector, corporate, SME, and Third sector in every discussion.
